Outdoor Living

Outdoor living

According to the findings of the Houzz Landscaping Survey, 59% of homeowners are prioritising outdoor living as the biggest priority in their overall project design. From the use of natural materials to contemporary furniture, here are our predictions for outdoor living this summer.

Natural Materials

This year it’s all about the use of natural materials in your outdoor area. According to garden designers, there will be a shift away from hard edges and a movement towards softer edges. Materials such as wood and stone will become more prominent in garden landscaping. If you’d like to integrate the use of a natural material in your garden our grand precious stone cherub and large white twisted willow hanger are an excellent way to bring any garden to life.

The use of modern design has made an appearance in the outdoor furniture industry including the use of creative shapes and metals. Furniture with natural, woven techniques to add texture is also making a comeback this year, the layout of furniture gradually resembles indoor living more and more each year.

Our amazing peach daybed is a unique piece of furniture which incorporates modern design and curved lines. We also think that the addition of this luxurious loungers and daybeds will help keep your garden on trend for outdoor living this year.

Hanging wall lampLighting

Throughout this year you might notice that light is used as a feature rather than solely for its functionality. In modern outdoor living, the use of light is used to enhance the appearance of different architectural or landscape elements of your garden. For example putting lighting underneath certain plants to make certain shapes of leaves stand out. As the weather gets warmer and the evenings get longer, BBQs might go late into the evening. To avoid any incidents, use lighting along pathways to help guests safely navigate their way through your garden. As a result of gardeners becoming more environmentally conscious, this year there will be an increase in energy efficient and LED lighting. We think our hanging wall lamp and clear jar LED lights would both add a delicate touch and brighten up any room or garden.

Blocks of Colour

Influenced by women’s fashion, the use of colour blocking will make its way into garden landscapes this year. Using blocks of colour in your garden is an excellent way to add a splash of colour to your outdoor living area. For example creating a feature wall can help highlight a particular plant. Alternatively, if you don’t have a wall that you can use, add some blocks of colour to your garden by placing some vibrant cushions on your furniture. To easily add a block of colour to your garden you could feature our vivid orange and fuchsia pompom cushion or this gorgeous green watercolour cushion.
